Wuhnleger – Best View of the Rosengarten
Tip: Idyllic Little Place!
You simply cannot find another area with a more intense view of the
Rosengarten than Wuhnleger.
From
St. Zyprian, it takes only about 45 minutes by foot, or 60 minutes from
Tiers, to reach the
Almwiese, or Alpine Meadow (1,402 m), in the heart of
Schlern – Rosengarten Nature Reserve. The Wuhnleger pond and its surroundings boast a rich fauna of toads, salamanders, dragonflies, and other critters.
The
bomb craters at Wuhnleger bear witness to the 2nd world war, where an airplane pilot got into a predicament here around 1943 and dropped a bomb in the area.
For a special treat, enjoy the
gorgeous hues of red at sunset and the reflection of the Rosengarten in the pond!
